Yesterday decided to go on a bit of a mission and explore the upper section of Route 66 and maybe hike Chisenupuri. This section of the road re opened today after being closed for the winter. John joined me on the mission. We jammed our bikes in my car in Hirafu and ended up on the corner of route 66 and the turn off up route 58 up to Goshiki Onsen.
The road had some impressive snowbanks and a team has been working on clearing the road for 2 weeks or more.
Getting back on the bike felt good and surprisingly we both did ok on the climb, seeing as well still had energy decided to boot pack it up Chisenupuri – only took us about 45mins and that was much quicker than when we had last hiked the route together last September.
The view at the top made all the effort worth while.
After shooting a couple of panos and a few stills we were out of there as it was COLD…forgot my gloves.
Hiking down the moon came out and John and i shared a moment ha ha.
The ride back down got the blood flowing and after dog fighting our way amongst the piles of snow and avoiding the ice patches we were down – mission accomplished.

Buddy! Some great pics in there… carrying all that extra gear must be a great workout. Loving the photo blog of Niseko – keep up the good work!
